Full program released for Wellbeing of Architects Symposium

Organisers of the Wellbeing of Architects Symposium have unveiled the full program of keynotes and discussions that explore findings from a four-year research project on the wellbeing of architects, built environment professionals, as well as students.

The symposium will offer recommendations for change, including knowledge and tools to support mental wellbeing through systems, culture and everyday activities. It will also see the launch of Guides to Wellbeing in Architecture Practice.

The first day will focus on architectural education - including insights on new approaches to studio teaching and assessment, transforming architectural education and how universities and student organisation can support the welding of students.

The second day focuses on professional architectural practice with keynote lectures on value and wellbeing in architecture, contracts and procurement and its effects on wellbeing, policy and legislation, as well as the roles of peak bodies, regulatory bodies and membership organisation in supporting the wellbeing of architects.

Speakers will include the leaders of the Wellbeing of Architects: Culture, Identity and Practice research project Naomi Stead, Maryam Gusheh, Julie Wolfram Cox, Kirsten Orr, PhD candidate Jonathan Robberts, as well as Flora Samuel, Narelle Lemon and Dariel De Sousa.

The symposium will be held in Melbourne at Collingwood Yards Music Market from 8 to 9 May. See the full program and purchase tickets here.

The symposium is a fringe program of the 2024 Australian Architecture conference.
